# Activation Layer

Once builders integrate, applications can activate the Value Graph. The Activation Layer powers real use cases:

* **Matching.** Projects define criteria, and the system identifies people whose Personas align. A DeFi protocol might seek users with a liquidity history, while a game might prefer players with NFT engagement and social activity.
* **Recommendations.** People discover new applications, communities, or opportunities that match their interests and reputation.
* **Services.** On top of matching and recommendations, developers can design new services, like gated access, custom reward systems, governance weighting, or marketplace targeting.

The Activation Layer is where the abstract idea of the Value Graph becomes real. It connects the technical primitives of Passports and Badges to practical outcomes for users and builders.

It also sets the stage for the **Economic Engine** in the next section, where Personas are analyzed, scored, and matched to create value for both people and projects.
